Quanterness Project - the pre-application consultation process

With the project team intending to submit a planning application for the Quanterness project early next year, we are currently carrying out a pre-application consultation, or PAC, for the project

These revised plans were on show at public events in Rendall and in Kirkwall on 20 and 21 November. Members of the Council’s project team were on hand to talk people through the plans and discuss any questions or concerns they may have. Feedback sheets were available to fill in at the event or to take away and fill in before submitting to the project team. 66 forms have been returned so far.

The exhibition boards that were on display are now available from the the Council website https://www.orkney.gov.uk/Council/C/quanterness-pre-application-consultation.htm,

along with the feedback form. Feedback forms can be submitted by email or post to the addresses below. Alternatively, feedback can be provided by phone on the number below. The deadline for submitting comments to the Project Team has been extended to 12.00 on 17 January 2020.

The objective of the PAC is for communities to be better informed about major and national development proposals and to have an opportunity to contribute their views before a formal planning application is submitted to the planning authority.

The PAC does not take away the need for, and right of, individuals and communities to express formal views to the planning authority during the planning application process itself. It is important, therefore, for communities and others to follow their interest in a proposal through to the planning application stage, when views can be made to the planning authority before it before determines the application.

It should be noted that comments made to us through this PAC process are not representations to the planning authority. Individuals and communities will have an opportunity to make representation on the development to the planning authority following the submission of the application.
